The Matrona Doula Program

The first birth I ever witnessed was that of two goats in my wee kindergarten years. The barn was completely quiet in between mama goats measured breath. I recall crouching in the hay, awestruck by the magnificent beauty of a laboring mama who knew the power in trusting her body to do exactly what it knows how to do-birth. Those tender moments shared with mama and her babes as she meticulously licked each one clean before beginning to consume her placenta comprised of the most majestic indigo and crimson hues, has impacted how I live and interact with the world to this day.

I have spent the past four years of my life learning and working on Biodynamic farms across the United States, nurturing the land that nurtures us in complete harmony with the earth and cosmos. Working with the land has allowed me to deeply root within myself and working with large animals, cows in particular have taught me the elegance and grace of existence. Having observed and assisted in dozens of animal births, I am always struck with the incredible strength and grace of each mama as they know exactly how to breath and move their bodies to welcome their little ones peacefully into this wild world. Animals have not learned to intellectualize the fear that transforms into pain unlike we humans have but rather they allow their instinctual body to take over and trust that their bodies know exactly what to do. Living side by side with these animals has inspired me to pursue my education as a doula-to share and support all mamas through pregnancy, labor and postpartum to remember and trust their biology and bodies to do what women have been doing for generations-birth. I believe in holding a space for all mamas to be safe, loved, and nurtured so that they may gently bring their babes into a peaceful and tender space to be loved and nurtured as they grow into the divine humans they are meant to be.

I have completed my education as a doula through the ‘Sacred Birthing School’ receiving certification for over 200 hours of in class education as a community doula. I would like to offer my unique and individualized care and support to all families-prenatally, labor and birth as well as postpartum. I am available for free consultations to empower you mamas and families to seek the support that best suits your needs. I look forward to connecting, please do not hesitate to reach out.
